Reward programmes use different currencies and redemption rules. Compare what a typical purchase earns with what you can actually redeem.
Calculate a simple value
Divide the cash price of a reward by the number of points required, then subtract any fees. Use the price you would otherwise pay, not an inflated reference price.
Check availability
Look for blackout dates, minimum balances and restrictions on partner bookings. A valuable-looking reward may be difficult to use when you need it.
Watch expiry
Record when points expire and whether activity resets the clock. A modest reward you can redeem soon may be more useful than a larger promise years away.
Details and policies can change. Check the current terms with the seller or provider before deciding.
